Displaying only the logmessages containing a certain string

Task: We will display here only the logmessages containing the word "Just" (case significant).

How to define the filter:

·      In ITLogBook, go with the mouse to the logfilter pane on the left side, to the folder named "Custom folders".
Quick reminder: This is the folder we already used in the previous step.

·      Invoke "New filter (Ins)" from the context menu of "Custom folders" to create a new filter.
This can be done by clicking the right mouse button over "Custom folders", which invokes its context menu, and selecting "New filter (Ins)" then.
Note: The remark "(Ins)" means that you can use the "Ins" key to quickly invoke this function. Note that this works as long as the logfilter pane has the focus.

·      In the filter name dialog just type in "string filter test" or just another name you want to give the filter. After pressing OK you will find a new filter with the name given in the "Custom folders" folder.

·      Invoke the context menu of this new filter (by clicking the right mouse button over the filter). Select the function "Add String Filter…".

·      In the filter string dialog type in "Just" (starting with a capital "J") and click on OK or press the Enter key.

·      The filter is defined now and can be used.

Note that you can see the filter string (here: "Just") in the logfilter pane.

Note that you even can edit it here directly. To start editing,

1.    select the filter string (with the mouse by clicking at it with the left mouse button, with the keyboard by using the arrow keys in the tree view of the logfilter pane) and the

2.    press F2 or click with the left mouse button again (but not to short after the first click, else you produce a double-click).

How to apply the filter:

·      Drag the filter (named "string filter test", if you followed the recommendation) to the logmessages pane.
