When a configuration parameter is online-updateable then a change of its value (in a configuration file) has an effect on the application that uses this parameter (and thus, this configuration file) without restarting the application.
However, there is a certain maximal delay until the change takes effect. It is determined by the setting for the reload period (another configuration parameter).
The most important online-updateable parameters relate to the write-out filters (output filters).
